Holi, the festival of colors, is finally here! While the celebrations are in full swing, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important weather update that could impact your outdoor plans. As per the latest forecast, rainfall and even snowfall are expected in parts of Northwest India, while states like Gujarat and Rajasthan could experience heatwave conditions.
Let’s take a closer look at the weather predictions for Holi 2025 and how they might affect different regions.
A Western Disturbance is currently active over Afghanistan and Rajasthan, which is likely to bring rain and thunderstorms across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand between March 14-16. Along with rain, light to moderate snowfall is also expected in hilly areas.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR will experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers, making Holi celebrations slightly cooler than usual. If you’re planning an outdoor celebration in Delhi, keep an umbrella handy!
The impact of Western Disturbance will also be felt in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, where heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are expected. The wind speed in these areas could reach 40-50 km/h, making travel and outdoor events a bit tricky.
If you’re celebrating Holi in the Northeastern states, be prepared for occasional showers and gusty winds during the festival.
While some parts of India will experience rain and snowfall, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand will be dealing with extreme heat.
The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for these states, predicting temperatures between 40-42°C in Gujarat and Rajasthan, while Odisha, Jharkhand, and parts of Madhya Pradesh will see temperatures rising above 38°C.
For Delhi-NCR, the forecast suggests a pleasant Holi with a mix of clouds, light rain, and a cool breeze. Over the next three days (March 14-16), expect mild showers, which will bring some relief from the rising temperatures.
IMD suggests that the drizzle will not be heavy, so Holi celebrations can continue with some minor precautions!
Despite the unpredictable weather, the spirit of Holi remains vibrant and full of joy! Whether it’s rain in the North, snowfall in the hills, or heatwaves in the West, people across India will come together to celebrate this festival of colors, love, and unity.
Wishing you a Happy, Safe, and Colorful Holi!
