Diwali 2025 Date and Shubh Muhurat

According to the Hindu calendar, Diwali 2025 will be celebrated on Monday, October 20, 2025, when the Amavasya Tithi (new moon day) of Kartik month prevails. This is the most sacred time to perform Lakshmi-Ganesha Puja and invite abundance into your life.

Detailed Timings for Diwali 2025

  • Amavasya Tithi Begins: October 20, 2025 – 03:44 PM
  • Amavasya Tithi Ends: October 21, 2025 – 05:54 PM
  • Since the Amavasya Tithi starts in the afternoon of October 20, Diwali and Lakshmi Puja should be celebrated on October 20, 2025.

Lakshmi Puja Muhurat

Performing the puja during Pradosh Kaal, especially when Vrishabha Kaal overlaps, is considered the most auspicious time for Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings.

Lakshmi Puja Vidhi (Step-by-Step Ritual Guide)

  • Preparation and Cleanliness: Start by cleaning your home thoroughly — Goddess Lakshmi is said to reside where there is cleanliness and harmony. Light incense and sprinkle Gangajal to purify the space.
  • Setting the Puja Chowki: Cover a wooden platform with a red or yellow cloth. Place idols or pictures of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, and Kuber Dev. Keep a Kalash filled with water, a betel nut, rice, and a coin beside the idols.
  • Decoration and Lighting Diyas: Decorate the space with Rangoli, marigold flowers, and earthen lamps. Place one Yamadeep (lamp facing south) near the entrance to ward off negativity.
  • Offerings to the Deities: Offer sweets, fruits, rice, turmeric, and coins. Chant: “Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah” to invoke her divine grace.
  • Aarti and Prayers: Sing "Om Jai Lakshmi Mata" while performing the Aarti with passion. Rotate the diya clockwise in front of the idols and bow your head with gratitude.
  • Distribute Prasad:  End the puja by distributing sweets and prasad to family members, symbolizing unity and shared blessings.

Simple Tips to Invite Goddess Lakshmi

  • Keep all diyas lit until midnight — it symbolizes prosperity’s arrival.
  • Place silver coins, rice grains, and turmeric in your wallet for good luck.
  • Avoid arguments or negative speech on Diwali — peace attracts divine energy.
  • Give donations or gifts to those in need — generosity multiplies abundance.
